Tennessee Waltz Whiskey & Coffee Cocktail Rimmer Sugar
My daughter moved to Nashville when she was 22. Within a year she had some encouraging forward movement in her singing and songwriting career. One event she was really thrilled about was when she was asked to be on stage for 20 minutes during the middle of the day at the site of the Tennessee Steeple Chase. Turns out she was invited to stay into the evening to join the celebrations after the race as a guest. Then at 3 am Pacific time, 1 am Central, my husband and I hear the phone ring. Being 2,000 miles away from her, a middle-of-the-night call is a jolting experience. At first, we couldn’t tell what was going on. She was screaming, crying, and laughing while driving home from the Steeple Chase party. When she finally calmed down, she was full of happiness: some nice older man had seen her standing around the ballroom alone, and asked her if she might join him to partake in the “Tennessee Waltz!” She said it was like a dream come true” twirling on the dance floor with a talented partner, putting a magical touch at the end of an amazing day.
